Our Favorite Air Purifier

After running purifiers in bedrooms and shared spaces for years, the air purifier we chose is the Levoit Core 400S — it's quiet enough to sleep next to and clears the air within a day. Here's what we bought, plus a few others we seriously considered.

Whether you are dealing with pollen, pet dander, or just want fresher air while you sleep, a good purifier should be quiet, easy to maintain, and sized for the room you actually use it in. Below the one we chose, we've rounded up a few others we considered for different rooms and budgets.

From Our Family

Why We Chose It

Spring rolls into our house like a slow-moving dust storm. With eight of us tracking in pollen, stray crumbs, and whatever the little ones dig up in the yard, the air in our main room used to feel heavy by dinnertime. Our oldest would wake up stuffy, the baby would fuss through naps, and cracking the windows never really cleared it out.

We landed on the Levoit Core 400S after running it for months in the busiest corner of the house. It is quiet enough that Dad sleeps right beside it, and the air honestly feels fresher within a day of switching it on. Swapping the filter takes about a minute, which matters a lot when you are already herding six kids and never remember maintenance until it is long overdue.

What made the Levoit beat the other purifiers we considered is that it simply stays on and disappears into the background. A couple of models we looked at were louder, and one buried the filter behind fussy panels that we knew we would never fight with. The Core 400S covers our big shared spaces without a hum anyone notices, the running cost stays sensible, and it has quietly become the thing nobody in the house thinks about — which is exactly what you want from an air purifier.
