From Our Family

Why We Chose It

Every one of our kids eventually graduates out of the infant carrier and into a bigger seat, and that transition always sneaks up faster than we expect. Our pediatrician has been clear with us about keeping kids rear-facing as long as possible, so when our latest little one started stretching the limits of the infant seat, we went hunting for a convertible that would not force us to flip them around before we were ready.

The one we chose is the Graco Extend2Fit, and the name says it all. The extension panel gives growing legs more room so we can keep a child rear-facing longer—something our pediatrician was genuinely happy to hear—and then it converts to forward-facing when the time finally comes. That extra rear-facing runway was the deciding feature for us, because it meant one seat covering a long stretch of a kid’s early years instead of a quick handoff to the next thing.

We compared it to a few other convertibles, some cheaper and some fancier. The budget seats tended to hit their rear-facing limits sooner, and the premium ones charged a lot for materials that would still end up coated in fruit-snack residue in our house anyway. The Graco Extend2Fit won on the combination that mattered: extended rear-facing to keep the little ones safer longer, a fair price we could stomach buying more than once, and covers that pop off for cleanup after the inevitable snack-and-juice disaster. Grounded, sturdy, and easy to live with—that is our whole car-seat philosophy in one seat.
