Autumn at our place means leaves — heaps of them, plus the grass clippings, the driveway crumbs, and the mysterious debris that six kids track everywhere. For years we fought all of it with a rake and a lot of complaining, until the afternoon our 8-year-old asked why we did not just have one of those blower things like the neighbors. Fair question, honestly. We were doing it the hard way out of pure habit.

It is cordless, so nobody trips over a cable while chasing leaves, and it is light enough that even our oldest can clear the porch and the driveway without wearing himself out. We looked at the corded and gas options too, but a cord felt limiting for the size of our lot, and gas meant fumes and upkeep we did not want with little ones underfoot.
